Daily Fantasy Basketball Injuries and Updates for 3/7/16
In daily fantasy basketball, every edge matters.
One of the easiest ways to find an edge is to understand what happens to a team when injuries occur. Who stands to benefit? Who might struggle as a result? That's all vital information during the lineup-building process.
What should you know about tonight's slate of games? Let's break it down.
As always, you should make sure to double-check our NBA Player News page before finalizing your lineup.
The Definites
It just came out that Michael Carter-Williams has a torn labrum and will undergo season-ending surgery. Carter-Williams missed the last four games due to a knee injury and hip injuries. This news is pretty big for both Giannis Antetokounmpo and Jerryd Bayless. Bayless recently returned to the lineup and has been productive in Carter-Williams' absence. Antetokounmpo has been an extremely valuable asset in the last four games by averaging 40 minutes, 23.3 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 9 assists. The Greek Freak has shown signs of growth all season and is blossoming into a star right before our eyes. The rest of the season bodes well for him to continue his success.
Eric Gordon refractured his finger last game and will miss extended time. While New Orleans is dealing with Gordon's injury, Norris Cole is a game-time call tonight for the Pelicans. Jrue Holiday is already drawing a start with Gordon out, and if Cole can't go, we can't be positive how Alvin Gentry will handle the rotation, but Toney Douglas could see a lot of minutes tonight. New Orleans has been beaten up all season, and tonight isn't any different. Both Holiday and Douglas should provide great value on their daily fantasy prices. Holiday is priced at $7,400 on FanDuel and $7,700 on DraftKings, while Douglas is $3,500 on FanDuel and $3,200 on DraftKings.
The To-Be-Determined List
Draymond Green sat out of shootaround this morning and is questionable for the Warriors' game as they host Orlando. Andre Iguodala is questionable as well for the defending champions. Green is dealing with an illness while Iguodala has missed a pair of games recently with a hamstring issue. Iguodala isn't a necessarily a huge factor in Golden State, but Green definitely is. If he sits out tonight's game, there is an increased value to all four of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Harrison Barnes, and Brandon Rush. Curry and Thompson will just be looked upon to create more than usual. Barnes and Rush will become interesting options because they aren't very productive on the stat sheet, but getting extended minutes tonight should help a lot. If both Green and Iguodala sit, Barnes and Rush should be very nice options in the DFS world.
