Daily Fantasy Basketball Injuries and Updates for 3/17/16
In daily fantasy basketball, every edge matters.
One of the easiest ways to find an edge is to understand what happens to a team when injuries occur. Who stands to benefit? Who might struggle as a result? That's all vital information during the lineup-building process.
What should you know about tonight's slate of games? Let's break it down.
As always, you should make sure to double-check our NBA Player News page before finalizing your lineup.
The Definites
Pau Gasol and Taj Gibson are doubtful tonight and are close to definites. Yesterday, I suggested Gibson because Gasol was sitting. Gibson went down with his own injury, and that opens up even more opportunities for Nikola Mirotic and Bobby Portis. Portis is just $3,800 on FanDuel and will have a great chance to pay at least five times his value (five fantasy points per $1,000 in salary). He started the second half last night with Gibson banged up. You have to consider both Portis and Mirotic tonight if Gasol and Gibson are both out.
Robert Covington and Jerami Grant are both out again after colliding last week. Hollis Thompson and Carl Landry are the two 76ers who will benefit the most again tonight. In the last three games, Landry is averaging 14 points and 8 rebounds. Thompson is just $4,000, and Landry is priced at $4,900.
The To-Be-Determined List
Ian Mahinmi is doubtful for tonight's game, which will allow Jordan Hill to enter the starting lineup and Myles Turner to see extended minutes as well. Mahinmi's absence earlier in the year lead to some Turner's breakout performances. He is priced at just $4,800 on FanDuel tonight.
Jonas Valanciunas sat out last game and is questionable for tonight's matchup. Bismack Biyombo has excelled in this situation earlier in the year and didn't disappoint on Tuesday either. Biyombo started for the injured Valanciunas and put up 12 points and 13 rebounds. At a measly $4,200 price tag, he is almost a must play in daily fantasy. He will likely be highly owned across the board tonight.
Gordon Hayward sat out last game, and the shots wen to Derrick Favors, Shelvin Mack, and Rodney Hood. They all had productive games in his absence and will likely do the same if he sits again tonight. Joe Ingles started in Hayward's place and played 37 minutes but only put up 6 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists. The minutes will be there for Ingles, but the value is mostly in the other three.
