Kristaps Porzingis (back) ruled out for Mavericks versus Spurs

Dallas Mavericks forward/center Kristaps Porzingis (lower back stiffness) is out for Thursday versus the San Antonio Spurs.

What It Means:

Porzingis only played 20 minutes on Tuesday before being ruled out due to lower back tightness. The Mavericks are on a back-to-back Thursday, so Porzingis may be able to make it out there for the second leg. Maxi Kleber will likely start in place of Porzingis and play extended minutes. Dorian Finney-Smith should also play a larger role and Boban Marjanovic (back, questionable) could see a boost.

Luka Doncic is leading the Mavericks with a 37.0% usage rate and averaging 1.65 FanDuel points per minute without Porzingis on the floor this season. KP is registering a 28.6% usage rate, second on the team behind Doncic. The Spurs are the 10th-fastest team in the league by pace, providing some additional upside.
