Mavericks' Christian Wood fractures thumb, out at least 1 week

Dallas Mavericks center Christian Wood has been diagnosed with a fracture of his left thumb.

What It Means:

Wood will be re-evaluated next week after fracturing his thumb in the second quarter of Wednesday's game against the Atlanta Hawks. Dwight Powell could see an uptick in playing time during Wood's absence and there will also be more minutes available for Davis Bertans and JaVale McGee. Tim Hardaway Jr. (ankle, probable) is the favorite to replace Wood in the starting lineup.

Wood is averaging 29.0 minutes and 34.1 FanDuel points per game this season, with 18.4 points, 8.4 rebounds, 1.3 blocks, and 1.8 3-pointers.
