X-ray results negative for Grizzlies' Ja Morant (hand)
X-ray scans on Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant's right hand came back negative following the team's Game 1 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers.
Morant came down awkwardly on his right hand while trying to make a play over Lakers center Anthony Davis, and exited the contest partway through the fourth quarter to be evaluated in the locker room. While he was able to return to the bench, he was unfortunately unable to take the court while the game slipped away from the Grizzlies. Morant himself said that his status for Game 2 of the series is "in jeopardy," adding that he's "in a good bit of pain."
It's certainly a relief that Morant did not suffer a more serious injury due to his fall, but it does seem like he will be genuinely questionable for Game 2 against the Lakers. If he does suit up on Wednesday, our models project him to score 47.8 fantasy points, with 25.3 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 9 assists.
