Devin Booker starts for Phoenix, drops 19 in Suns' preseason opener
Phoenix Suns shooting guard Devin Booker got the start in preseason action against the San Antonio Spurs on Monday, scoring 19 points with 3 rebounds and 1 assist in 24 minutes of action.
The sophomore guard started next to Eric Bledsoe in the backcourt, while also occasionally serving as the primary ball-handler in a number of halfcourt sets. He appears poised to play a big role for Phoenix this season.
Booker averaged 13.8 points, 2.6 assists and 2.5 rebounds in 27.7 minutes per game as a rookie. He posted an unimpressive 11.9 player efficiency rating and a .535 true shooting percentage that ranked 9th on the Suns last season, but at only 19 years old, he has plenty of room for improvement.
