Bonzie Colson, Notre Dame Fighting Irish

Notre Dame, a 5 seed in the West region, isn't a top seed or a favorite to win the title, but they are one of the hottest teams in the nation.

Head coach Mike Brey's Fighting Irish have won 8 of their last 10 contests, including two impressive wins over the Virginia Cavaliers and Florida State Seminoles in the first two rounds of the ACC Conference Tournament. Junior forward Bonzie Colson was as big a factor as any in their recent success.

In three conference tournament matchups, Colson averaged 22.7 points, 8.3 rebounds and a three-point make in 36 minutes. He knocked down 52.1% of his shots, which is right around his season average of 52.3%. With his inside-outside production, Colson has produced .241 win shares per 40 minutes with the 12th-highest PER (30.0) in the country.

The Irish are preparing to take on Ivy League champion Princeton in the first round. If they hope to get past the likes of West Virginia, Gonzaga and maybe even Arizona, Colson will have to be just as outstanding as he's been recently and all year.
