College Football Daily Fantasy Helper: Friday 9/30/22

College football is back, and FanDuel's college football DFS main slate on Friday includes five games.

In case you're unfamiliar with how it works, you can check out the rules and scoring on FanDuel, where you can hit the lobby each week to see the full array of slates and contests being offered.

As for the basics, your roster consists of a quarterback slot, two running backs, three wide receivers (which also includes tight ends), and one "Super FLEX". In the Super FLEX spot, you can insert one player from any position, including quarterbacks.

Here, our goal is to help you field a roster full of fantasy goodness, and in true numberFire fashion, we'll use our DFS projections, game projections, and market share report to tackle as many slates as possible in the lead-up to the College Football Playoff. In this piece, we are breaking down Friday's main slate, which locks at 7:00 p.m. EST.

Let's look at which players are in great spots as well as identify some players with low salaries who will allow you to roster the high-salary players. All stats come from PFF unless otherwise noted.

Quarterbacks

Frank Harris, Texas San Antonio ($11,000) – Harris ranks 6th nationally in passing yards (1,310) this season. He has recorded three-plus passing touchdowns in three out of four games, and in total, he has accounted for 12 touchdowns. If that's not impressive enough, the senior has recorded at least 30 rushing yards in every game this season. His ceiling is sky-high in a matchup with the Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders. The Blue Raiders have struggled against the pass this season, yielding a slate-high 11 touchdown passes this season.

Michael Pratt, Tulane ($9,400) – The Tulane Green Wave have a good young quarterback in Michael Pratt. Pratt flashed some serious play-making skills as a freshman last season. The dual-threat signal-caller has recorded seven touchdown passes through four games. Additionally, he is the Green Wave's second-leading rusher this season (197 rushing yards and a touchdown). He is a great spot against a reeling Houston Cougars defense. The Cougars rank 114th in total defense and are allowing an average of 443.2 yards per game to opposing offenses.

Taylen Green, Boise State ($8,500) - Green was named the starting quarterback for the Boise State Broncos when Hank Bachmeier unexpectedly entered the transfer portal earlier this week. The dual-threat signal caller received some game action in the Broncos' season opener at Oregon State. In that game, Green completed 18 out of 28 pass attempts for 155 yards. He also added 102 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns on 11 carries. He will be popular as a salary relief option at quarterback.

Others to Consider: Michael Penix Jr. ($11,200), Dorian Thompson-Robinson ($10,700), Doug Brumfield ($10,200 - great GPP play), Chase Cunningham ($8,800)

Running Backs

Tyjae Spears, Tulane ($9,300) – Spears is one of the most versatile running backs in college football. The playmaker has found paydirt six times as a ball carrier. He has tallied 7 receptions and 106 receiving yards as a pass catcher. The junior could light up the box score against Houston's vulnerable defense. The Cougars have surrendered 17 touchdowns to opposing offenses through four games this season.

Brandon Campbell, Houston ($7,500) – Campbell is expected to play after missing last week's game. The former Southern California Trojan was originally a four-star recruit. He is a threat in both the running and passing games. In two-plus games this season, Campbell has 177 rushing and 76 receiving yards. He also has two touchdowns. He will likely fly under the radar and is a good way to get unique on Friday night.

Frank Peasant, Middle Tennessee State ($6,600) – Peasant has emerged as the Blue Raiders lead running back. The sophomore is averaging 17.0 carries over the last three games. He has also racked up six rushing touchdowns during that time. Further enhancing his appeal is a matchup with Texas San Antonio's porous run defense. The Miners are allowing an eye-opening 213 rushing yards per game to enemy ball carriers. They've ceded nine rushing touchdowns through four games (slate high).

Others to Consider: Aidan Robbins ($9,800), Zach Charbonnet ($9,300), Wayne Taulapapa ($8,000 - especially if Cameron Davis is out), Brenden Brady ($8,200), George Holani ($7,600)

Wide Receivers

Nathaniel Dell, Houston ($9,200) – Dell has tallied at least five receptions in eight consecutive games dating back to last season. The speedster is averaging a massive 110.3 receiving yards over the last three games. I think Dell could be a leverage play off the much chalkier Zakari Franklin ($9,500). Tulane's secondary hasn't squared off with a talent like Dell this season. Their first four opponents were Massachusetts (130th in passing offense), Alcorn State (FCS team), Kansas State (122nd in passing offense), and Southern Mississippi (79th in passing offense).

Joshua Cephus, Texas-San Antonio ($8,000) - The top three receivers for the Miners rank first, second, and third overall on this slate in targets (Zakari Franklin 49, De'Corian Clark, 41, and Cephus 38). Needless to say, all three wide receivers are solid options. I do believe Cephus will be popular, but I think it's likely that he'll be the least popular of the Texas San Antonio trio. The fourth-year receiver enters this week leading the trio in aDOT (11.9). His salary is also significantly cheaper than his two fellow wide receivers. As noted above, this is a phenomenal matchup for the Miners' aerial attack.

Izaiah Gathings, Middle Tennessee State ($5,600) - Gathings has caught 24 out of 25 targets this season (both team-high). He is also leading Middle Tennessee State with 115 pass routes ran. He'll likely be a unique option at wide receiver, and he offers significant salary savings. Finally, the matchup with Texas San Antonio is favorable. The Miners rank 70th nationally in passing yards allowed (225.0) per game. They've surrendered seven touchdown passes through four games.

Others to Consider: Zakhari Franklin ($9,500), De'Corian Clark ($8,800), Jalen McMillan ($8,300), Rome Udunze ($8,100), Ricky White ($7,700), Ja'Lynn Polk ($7,500), Jaylin Lane ($7,400), Jake Bobo ($6,600), Stefan Cobbs ($6,300), Tyrell Williams ($5,700), Shae Wyatt ($5,600), Luke Wysong ($5,200)
