Fantasy Football: 5 Late-Round Quarterbacks to Target
Jameis Winston, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Jameis Winston scored at least 12 fantasy points in every game last season. He also scored more than 21 fantasy points just once and finished as a top-10 weekly quarterback only three times through Week 16.
Still, if you're in a deep league, that type of consistency is welcomed if you loaded up on other positions early in the draft. Tampa Bay coach Dirk Koetter is aware of Winston's upside, and it seems as though Winston could be more aggressive this season. He lost 20 pounds or so, too.
Among 37 passers with 200 or more drop backs, Winston ranked 15th in Passing NEP per drop back (0.13) and outpaced the league average (0.11) as a rookie. His Passing Success Rate (47.86%) also ranked 15th, so his production wasn't necessarily boosted by big plays (for what it's worth, Tom Brady's rate was 47.88%).
With Mike Evans primed for positive touchdown regression, Vincent Jackson posting top-12 per-catch and per-target efficiency scores among 74 receivers with at least 60 targets, one or both of Austin Seferian-Jenkins and Cameron Brate at tight end, and Charles Sims out of the backfield, Winston can definitely improve on his fantasy ceiling.
It also doesn't hurt that he faces San Diego, New Orleans (twice), and Dallas in Weeks 13 through 16.
