Cleveland’s Offense Shows Signs of Life

The Cleveland Browns are by no means an NFL juggernaut yet, but reclamation project/quarterback Robert Griffin III has flashed some of his old upside once again in very limited action. He’s connected with the first-team receivers a ton on the deep ball, leading to a very solid 163 passing yards on 16 attempts (10.19 average), scoring twice on those. That said, he’s also thrown a goal-line pick, fumbled a snap, and taken big hits repeatedly. At least the RGIII we knew and loved is back.

And speaking of the deep ball, wide receiver Terrelle Pryor is lighting it up on the deep connection with Griffin. Pryor has just 5 targets this preseason but has made the most of them, catching 3 for 107 yards and a touchdown. That’s a yards per reception mark of 35.67 and just goes to show that the deep passing game is going to be a focal point of the Browns’ offense, especially with Baylor alums and deep threats Corey Coleman and Josh Gordon in tow.

This is a surprisingly deep wide receiver corps compared to where they were at the end of last season.
