Sterling Shepard and Tyler Boyd Were Draft-Day Steals

From reports out of New York Giants’ camp that Sterling Shepard is catching everything near him to the word that Tyler Boyd has made a splash play every day in Cincinnati Bengals’ camp, these are two second-round rookie receivers who were great values for their teams at the NFL Draft.

In just one preseason game so far, Shepard hasn’t done much yet; he’s caught just 1 of his 4 targets for 24 yards receiving. That said, this was with backup Ryan Nassib in at quarterback. According to all reports, Shepard and starter Eli Manning are perfectly in sync. This is going to be a fun offense to watch in 2016.

Similarly, the Bengals may not miss a beat after losing both Marvin Jones and Mohamed Sanu in free agency. Tyler Boyd apparently needs to work on his consistency, but the big-play value is there already. Boyd has caught 3 of his 5 looks for 74 yards and a touchdown, the score being the least impressive of the 3 catches -- one a 40-yard go route bomb and another a 26-yard diving snag.

Watch both of these players early on, and they should impress you.
