5 Daily Fantasy Football Matchups to Exploit in Week 1
Dallas Cowboys Rushing Offense
All of the talk about the Cowboys this week centers around Dak Prescott. Given his situation and the way he performed in the preseason, that hype makes sense.
It just may make people forget how great of a matchup this is for Ezekiel Elliott.
The New York Giants finished 2015 ranked 24th in Adjusted Defensive Rushing NEP per play. That would put a lot of offenses in a prime spot, but the Cowboys have a dominant offensive line that allowed them to finish ninth in Adjusted Rushing NEP per play last year despite leaning on Darren McFadden and others. We haven't seen much of Elliott yet, but it seems safe to say he's a step above Joseph Randle and Robert Turbin.
From Week 10 through Week 16, the Giants allowed five separate rushers to finish as top-10 weekly scorers at the position. These weren't all top-tier assets, either. The list included Bilal Powell, Jerick McKinnon, and LeGarrette Blount. Again, these are guys to whom Elliott should compare favorably.
A few weeks before that tough stretch, the Giants allowed a 28-year-old back to rush for 152 yards, the most he had recorded in a single game since 2011.
That, of course, was McFadden.
Elliott has some of the same concerns we saw in Mathews given the nature of his quarterback situation. The Cowboys, though, have a tremendous situation with their offensive line, and Dez Bryant and Jason Witten can help ease the transition. Even though Vegas may be a bit overconfident in making the Cowboys a pick 'em with the Giants, the offense has the tools it needs to succeed.
Elliott -- because of the hype he generated coming out of college -- isn't going to be the world's most unique selection. However, with the masses flocking to Prescott, they may leave Elliott's ownership below where it should be, making him a fun pivot off of his own teammate in tournaments.
