5 NFL Stats to Know Through Week 1
Andrew Luck Led All NFL Players With 35.50 Fantasy Points
Not only did Andrew Luck lead the league this past week, but he also set a new career high in fantasy points.
It was the sixth time in his career that he has thrown for at least four touchdowns in a game, but the first time since Week 9 of 2014 that he accomplished the feat while avoiding any interceptions.
The Indianapolis Colts had three wide receivers among the top 36 wideouts in fantasy points in Week 1, and their offense featured both of the top two fantasy tight ends – Jack Doyle with 15.50 points and Dwayne Allen with 13.30 points.
Even all of that wasn’t enough for the Indianapolis offense to overcome the weakness of their defense, which finished dead last with a clip of 0.40 Adjusted Defensive Net Expected Points (NEP) per play. Their top cornerback, Vontae Davis, is expected to miss at least a month, which means we can probably expect the Colts to have to continue to rely on their passing offense to keep them in games.
