Week 3 FanDuel NFL Tournament Pivots
Quarterback
Chalk:
Andrew Luck, $8,700 vs San Diego Chargers - Quarterback doesn't appear to be an overly chalky position this week, with Andrew Luck and Philip Rivers likely to be two of the most popular options in a head to head matchup with the highest over/under on the slate.
Pivots:
Marcus Mariota, $7,700 vs Oakland Raiders - Marcus Mariota is appealing as a direct pivot off of Rivers, who is $300 more this week. While the Tennessee Titans and Oakland Raiders don't have nearly the impressive over/under that the Indianapolis Colts and San Diego Chargers game does, Tennessee's 24-point implied team total is almost identical with San Diego's 24.5-point mark.
After two straight weeks of at least 17.5 FanDuel points and 2 passing touchdowns, Mariota gets a chance to showcase his ceiling against a Raiders defense that has easily allowed the most fantasy points (ESPN Standard Scoring) to quarterbacks this season. Drew Brees and Matt Ryan have combined to average 410 passing yards and 3.5 touchdowns against this defense. The Raiders have a talented secondary, but until offseason acquisition Sean Smith and former first-round bust D.J. Hayden get their act together, it will continue to be one that daily fantasy owners can pick on.
Ryan Tannehill, $7,400 vs Cleveland Browns - Another quarterback in a sneaky good spot that may go overlooked due to his game's low over/under is Ryan Tannehill. While the clash between Tannehill and Cody Kessler seems unlikely to result in much of a shootout, Tannehill's Miami Dolphins actually boast the third-highest implied team total on the slate.
The Cleveland Browns haven't been quite as putrid against the pass as the Raiders have, but they have allowed the Philadelphia Eagles and Baltimore Ravens to look like above-average passing attacks, giving up a combined 580 passing yards and 4 touchdowns to Carson Wentz and Joe Flacco. Game script sets up well for a big game from Tannehill, and his price tag makes him one of the most intriguing plays on the slate.
