5 NFL Stats to Know Through Week 3
Carson Wentz and Dak Prescott Have Attempted a Combined 201 Passes With No Interceptions
With 102 pass attempts, Carson Wentz has set the record for the most passing attempts without an interception for a player to start his career. Coincidentally, Dak Prescott has taken second place in that same category with 99 pass attempts. The previous leader was Troy Smith with 76 interception-free passes to begin his career in 2007.
Among quarterbacks with at least 100 drop backs this year, Wentz (0.33) and Prescott (0.32) rank third and fourth, respectively, in Passing NEP per drop back. Prescott is 2 passing yards shy of Wentz’s 769, while Wentz has a 5-to-1 advantage in touchdown passes.
No other rookie quarterbacks have started more than one game this season, including Jared Goff – the lone player drafted before Wentz.
