4 Fantasy Football Studs to Buy Low

Jonathan Stewart, RB, Carolina Panthers

Alright, perhaps Jonathan Stewart can't be considered a "stud" running back, but he was a fourth- or fifth-round pick in most fantasy drafts. A hamstring injury has cost him most of the last three games, although he appears to be nearing a return.

And with fantasy footballers desperate for consistent running back play, Stewart is an intriguing buy-low candidate.

It's easy to forget just how effective Stewart was at times last season. In 2015, from Week 6 to Week 14, Stewart scored at least 10.7 PPR points in eight of nine games, with six outings of at least 15 points. Of course, he then got injured in Week 14 and didn't reemerge until the NFL playoffs began.

But in the wild card round against the Seahawks, Stewart had 106 yards and two touchdowns in an overwhelming win. He then had another 83 yards the following week against a stingy Arizona defense. While the Broncos did hold him to just 29 yards in the Super Bowl, he scored a touchdown in that game to cap off a relatively impressive under-the-radar season.

While we aren't looking at a fantasy superstar, Stewart has proven he can be a productive back, and he is playing in a quality offense.

Of the buy-low options mentioned, Stewart should be by far the cheapest. With bye weeks now in full swing, Stewart could be an incredibly valuable player to have on your roster, especially if his price tag has dropped during his absence.
