FanDuel Salary Changes: Week 6
Cameron Meredith, WR, Chicago Bears
FanDuel Price: $5,400
Salary Change: Up $900
When second-year wide receiver Kevin White injured his ankle in Week 4, not many were familiar his replacement, undrafted free agent Cameron Meredith. Even though he was an unknown to the outside world, the Chicago Bears’ coaching staff had confidence in Meredith's abilities:
#Bears coach John Fox on WR Cameron Meredith: "He's tall. He's long. He's got a good catch radius. He's got good hands."
— Chicago Bears (@ChicagoBears) October 3, 2016
The comments check out. Meredith’s catch radius is currently in the 95th percentile in the NFL, per Player Profiler.
So naturally in his first start last week, Meredith exploded with 9 catches for 130 yards and a touchdown. It appears that it doesn’t matter who actually starts in this position in this offense -- whoever lines up in this spot, Hoyer is going to throw them the ball.
In Week 3, White drew 14 targets. In Week 4, White had 7 before getting injured, and Meredith saw 3 after White exited. And last week, Meredith got 12 targets himself.
During Hoyer’s span as the starter, Alshon Jeffery has just 18 targets. So if Meredith’s position in the offense is going to continue to get peppered with targets, it’s hard to ignore his $5,400 price tag. He’ll certainly be highly owned after last week’s performance, but he projects as one of the best value plays in Week 6.
