Fantasy Football: 4 Things We Learned From Week 6
Tony Romo Might Not Get His Job Back
While we're on the topic of really good players having their previous roles diminished, it's officially time to consider whether or not Tony Romo should come back to his starting job.
This isn't my being crass or sensationalistic either. In fact, Romo has been one of the most under-appreciated quarterbacks of this generation. Romo has had three of the top 35 quarterback seasons since 2000 in terms of Passing Success Rate. Only Peyton Manning (10), Drew Brees (6), and Tom Brady (4) have had more.
But Dak Prescott is playing lights out. His current 55.5% Passing Success Rate bests any season Romo ever put up. His 0.32 Passing NEP per attempt does as well.
And his ability to scramble and make plays with his legs is daunting too. His 0.59 Rushing NEP per rush, if it continues, would make for the fifth-most efficient rushing season by a quarterback with at least 35 rushes since 2000.
And Prescott's doing all of this without having had Dez Bryant on the field the last two weeks.
If you play in a two-quarterback league and Prescott is still on your waiver due to owners knowing his benching is imminent after the Dallas Cowboys’ Week 7 bye, grab him. There's a decent chance the Cowboys may want to move forward with the guy they see as the quarterback of their future.
