Week 8 Game Scripts to Target in Daily Fantasy Football
New Orleans Saints vs. Seattle Seahawks
Over/Under: 48.00
Saints Implied Team Total: 22.50
Seahawks Implied Team Total: 25.50
Games played at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome have averaged a point total of 75 points through three games this year. The lowest any team has scored so far while playing at New Orleans is 32 points. Last season, the average point total at the Superdome was 64 points. So, it seems a bit surprising to see this one projected for "just" a 48-point over/under. This should be a fast-paced game too, as both the New Orleans Saints and Seattle Seahawks rank in the top-11 in total plays per game, with New Orleans ranking first.
Christine Michael, RB, Seattle Seahawks
FanDuel Price: $7,800
Christine Michael struggled in a tough matchup against the Arizona Cardinals last week but remained heavily involved in the offense, handling 19 touches. He'll have a much easier time this week against the Saints, who rank dead last in Adjusted Defensive Rushing Net Expected Points (NEP) per play, as well as FanDuel points allowed per game.
Game script sets up beautifully for Michael in this game as well. Michael has averaged 20.8 touches in Seattle's wins this year, as opposed to 16 touches in all other games, which is right in line with Raybon's data on running backs on winning teams. In games that the Saints have lost this season, opposing running backs have averaged 30.8 touches for 186.3 total yards and 2 touchdowns.
It's not going to be easy to fit Michael's salary into your lineup, but his combination of a terrific matchup and potentially favorable game script makes him an excellent play.
Jimmy Graham, TE, Seattle Seahawks
FanDuel Price: $6,700
A fully-healthy Jimmy Graham has been heavily involved for Seattle since Week 3, averaging 5.8 catches on 9 targets for 88.8 yards and 12.8 FanDuel points per game. He is coming off of a season-high 10 targets and should be heavily involved in a "revenge-game" against his former team.
Against a New Orleans defense that has ranked fourth-worst in Adjusted Defensive Passing NEP per play and allowed more FanDuel points per game to opposing tight ends than any team last season. Seattle has the fourth-highest implied team total on the slate, and if Graham's 28 percent target market share over the past four games remains consistent, he should have no problem putting up a productive line against the Saints.
Others to Consider
Russell Wilson has struggled from a fantasy perspective, and his health is a legitimate concern. However, the matchup is excellent, and as discussed earlier, Seattle could easily exceed their 25.5-point implied team total. The matchup is good enough that he is worth consideration in tournaments.
Michael Thomas continues to be priced as New Orleans' number-three receiver, despite playing arguably the largest role of them all. Since Week 3, Thomas leads the team with 9.5 targets per game, ahead of Brandin Cooks (8), Willie Snead (6.3), and Coby Fleener (6.3). He also leads the team in receiving yards (80.8) and touchdowns (0.75) per game during that span. The matchup is tough, but he is worth throwing in a game stack at his price.
