Todd Gurley has not rushed for 100 yards in a game this season. In fact, he has rushed for fewer than 75 yards in five of seven games this season. Gurley has accumulated more than 20 carries in a game just twice, and he's totaled 29 carries in his past two games combined. None of that is good.

The Carolina Panthers overall defense may lack some of the teeth it bared during last season's Super Bowl run, but they have been very effective against the run. The Panthers currently rank sixth in the league in Adjusted Defensive Rushing NEP per play. Carolina has allowed the second-fewest rushing yards (509), sixth-fewest rushing touchdowns (3) and seventh-fewest FanDuel points per game (17.3) to running backs.

Gurley's -15.93 Rushing NEP is the second-worst mark in the NFL among the 24 running backs who have attempted at least 75 rushes this season. Gurley has one of the worst FanDuel Value scores (1.53) among starting running backs in our projections this week.

There's likely to be a game where Gurley explodes this season because he's very talented and can rip off a big run on any snap. But considering the Panthers' proficiency against the run, it's probably not happening this weekend.
