10 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Targets Heading Into Week 12
Sammy Watkins, WR, Buffalo Bills
ESPN Ownership: 32%
Yahoo Ownership: 41%
It’s high time that everyone remember that Sammy Watkins is eligible to return in Week 12, and while it should be taken with a grain of salt, teammates are speculating that he might do just that. And with each passing day that the Bills don't use their designated spot to reinstate a player from Injured Reserve on someone other than Watkins, the greater the odds that he'll be able to contribute for a playoff run.
Watkins didn't put up much in the way of production in Weeks 1 through 3 when he was active, but that's because he was playing on a bum foot, the whole reason he landed on injured reserve. And at only 32% ownership on ESPN, it's worth reminding everyone what Watkins is capable of.
Watkins posted a league-leading 1.05 Reception NEP per target, highest among the 53 receivers with at least 90 targets in 2015. Per Pro Football Reference, only Antonio Brown and Odell Beckham had more than Watkins' 7 receptions of greater than 40 yards, and Watkins missed three games last season. He also reached 100-plus receiving yards in five of those 13 games, surpassing 150 receiving yards in two of them.
It's absolutely crazy that Watkins is still available in so many leagues, particularly as it looks more likely he will be ready to roll in the near future. Grab him as your first priority if your team is already primed for the playoffs.
