Even though it saddens football fans across the nation to see one of the best receivers in the league go down to injury, fantasy footballers must remain vigilant on the waiver wire. As such, with A.J. Green’s torn hamstring, which is potentially season-ending, Tyler Boyd appears to be the next man up for the Cincinnati Bengals.
Boyd has been largely fantasy-irrelevant for the entire season until Sunday when he reeled in 6 catches on 8 targets for 54 yards and a touchdown. But the expectations for Boyd headed into the season were fairly high after he placed third in Rotoviz’s Phenom index and put forth a strong preseason showing.
So while Boyd will still be behind Tyler Eifert in Andy Dalton's pecking order, he'll now have more opportunity to prove his worth. Boyd shouldn't be considered a must-start yet, but you don't want to leave him for your league-mates to grab off the waiver wire if he proves he can produce a late season surge.
Even Brandon LaFell, who has played at least 90% of snaps in every game this season, per FantasyData, is worth a look in fantasy leagues for receiver-needy owners.
