Denver Broncos quarterback Trevor Siemian doesn’t get enough credit for being a solid first-year starter in a league that crushes average passers, let alone a fanbase and media sphere coming off a Super Bowl victory in the Mile High City. Not many people had faith that the former seventh-round selection would step into Peyton Manning's massive shoes (albeit shrunken after last season) with any sort of success, but here we are in the wake of Week 12 and he is still starting. Siemian is the immediate future for Denver, and it’s no surprise why when we look at plays like he pulled off this week.
Midway through the fourth quarter, the Broncos trailed by a score. On 2nd-and-7 from the Chiefs’ 35-yard line, Siemian took a hurried drop (Kansas City linebacker Justin Houston had been beating him up all day), spotted wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders streaking toward the left corner, having beat his man on a slant. Siemian laid a perfectly spun rainbow in over Sanders, right into the receiver’s waiting arms, after which he coasted into the end zone for a go-ahead touchdown.
