Running Back

Chalk

It's likely that David Johnson, Le'Veon Bell, Melvin Gordon, Thomas Rawls, and Jeremy Hill will carry elevated ownership this week. They range in price pretty drastically. Johnson is $9,700 on FanDuel, Bell is $9,000, Gordon is $8,200, Hill is $6,900, and Rawls is $6,500.

All carry reliable usage rates and snap rates -- aside from Hill -- and have beatable matchups (which is why Hill is likely to be popular, as he draws the Cleveland Browns' awful defense).

Pivots

LeSean McCoy ($8,300) - Nobody else is in the $9,000 range, so we can't really directly pivot off Johnson and Bell, but McCoy makes for a nice pivot off Gordon. The Buffalo Bills face the Pittsburgh Steelers, who are 29th against fantasy running backs, per our DFS tools, despite ranking 16th against the run by Adjusted Defensive Rushing NEP per play.

DeMarco Murray ($7,900) - Murray also acts as a pivot from the higher-priced options against the Denver Broncos. Murray has been hampered by a toe injury but had Week 13 off to recover during the bye. He played 88% of the team's snaps in Week 12 and 99% in Week 11.

Denver ranks just 28th against starting running backs in terms of fantasy points allowed and 26th by Adjusted Defensive Rushing NEP per play.

Carlos Hyde ($6,900) - Hyde is $400 more than Rawls and the same price as Hill, who -- again -- gets one of the best running back matchups possible. Hyde, though, has a decent matchup against the New York Jets, who are 18th in FanDuel points allowed to running backs. They are 6th against the rush by our metrics on the season but 14th since Week 7.

Hyde had 20 carries last week for 92 yards, 13 the week prior, and 19 in the game before that. With a chance at 20 carries, some should come near the goal line, especially if Bryce Petty struggles to move the ball or turns it over a handful of times.
