Plugging the Gaps: IDP Waiver Wire for Week 15
Grady Jarrett, Defensive Tackle
The Atlanta Falcons of 2016 are not famed for their defensive prowess, but one Dirty Birds defender is making a breakout name for himself this year: that’s defensive tackle Grady Jarrett. The young Clemson product was known to have an immense amount of speed and quickness for his size when he was drafted, but fell to the fifth round two years ago because he wasn’t considered big enough to play a classic defensive tackle role.
In spite of this, Jarrett has surged to an 8 percent tackle rate, good for 14th among the 51 defensive tackles playing at least 30 snaps in 2016. He ranks 19th in sack rate and 25th in quarterback hit rate among the same, indicating an average ability for pass-rushing that can augment his high tackle floor.
The Falcons face the San Francisco 49ers in Week 15, who have the fourth-most run-heavy offense by play calling ratio and have run the fifth-most raw rushing plays going into Week 15. The Niners are also allowing the third-highest sack rate to opposing defenses and the eighth-highest stuff rate. This could be a big game for Jarrett.
Jarrett is available in 95.5% of ESPN IDP leagues, and we project him for 2.64 tackles, 0.23 sacks, and a total score of 3.37 fantasy points in Week 15.
