These same Bengals had many chances to break away in Week 16, but it appears that former offensive coordinator Hue Jackson stole all of the offensive mojo when he departed Cincinnati.
The Bengals were laughably inept before the fourth quarter, with just 4.43 passing yards per attempt and an even-worse 0.58 yards per rush. Quarterback Andy Dalton was taking just easy dump-offs and running back Jeremy Hill was a mess.
With just under 11 minutes left, though, the passing game broke back open. A simple five-wide alignment resulted in a quick slant attack, and veteran wide receiver Brandon LaFell burst off the line as the Texans’ cornerbacks picked each other accidentally.
Eluding tackle after tackle, LaFell slalomed his way downfield to bring the trailing Bengals back into the lead, 10-6.
