5 NFL Stats to Know Through Week 17
Todd Gurley's -34.40 Rushing NEP Ranks Last
As bad as the Rams' passing attack was this season, the rushing attack wasn't much better.
After finishing the 2015 season with 7.98 Rushing NEP to rank eighth among all running backs, Todd Gurley experienced a significant dip in production during his second NFL season. Keep in mind that Rushing NEP numbers will typically be much less than Passing NEP due to passing being a more efficient way of moving the ball, but obviously dead last in the NFL is bad in any sense.
When looking at Rushing NEP per carry, Gurley looks a tad better, but he still ranks 57th among the 69 running backs with 50 or more carries this season. That's a significant decline in efficiency from his 2015 rookie season, when he finished with 0.03 Rushing NEP per carry to rank 12th among the 72 running backs with at least 50 carries.
Gurley actually received 49 more carries in 2016 compared to last season, and he ended up with 221 less rushing yards and 4 less touchdowns.
