1. 2007 New England Patriots

The '07 Patriots' nERD is more than 4.5 better than the next team and it is the best we've seen in over 16 seasons. Considering their perfect 16-0 regular season, that's not a giant surprise.

New England added Randy Moss as the primary weapon in their already outstanding pass game, and he caught 23 of Brady's 50 passing touchdowns that year. Brady also accounted for just over 4,800 yards on 68.9% passing. Teddy Bruschi, Mike Vrabel and Junior Seau made up a Hall of Fame linebacking core, alongside Asante Samuel's team-leading six picks.

In the face of all their greatness, the Patriots lost Super Bowl 42 on a game that came down to one outstanding play -- Giants wideout David Tyree's infamous helmet catch. New York stunned the world and ended New England's bid for absolute perfection, making the 2007 Patriots the best team absent a championship.
