Brandon Marshall, WR, New York Jets

When Brandon Marshall joined the New York Jets in 2015, fantasy players and experts had to consider whether he could still post quality numbers for an underwhelming offense and whether he'd still be as effective despite entering his 10th NFL season.

The answer was a resounding yes to both after he posted the best numbers of his career with 109 catches for 1,502 yards and a career-high 14 touchdowns. He finished as the third fantasy wide receiver with his eighth 1,000-yard season - and that was with Ryan Fitzpatrick as his quarterback.

Expectations were once again high for Marshall entering 2016, with his ADP ranging from 15 to 26 on the major fantasy sites. The Jets thought -- at the time -- they made an upgrade at running back by replacing Chris Ivory with Matt Forte. Hopes were high that the offense would take a step forward.

Instead, the Jets and Marshall fell flat.

He had one of the worst seasons of his career with 59 catches for 788 yards and 3 touchdowns. He managed only two 100-yard games and had nine single-digit PPR outings. His teammates weren't any better.

Fitzpatrick threw 12 touchdown passes and 17 interceptions before being benched for Bryce Petty, who threw three touchdown passes and seven picks. Forte had the worst season of his career in terms of yardage (813 rushing, 263 receiving). Wideout Eric Decker played only three games before suffering a season-ending rotator cuff injury, which allowed defenses to key even more on Marshall.

The Jets finished 29th in both overall offense and passing in numberFire's team power rankings.

This is how Marshall described the Jets' season on "Inside the NFL," a TV show where he is a weekly analyst.

Marshall finished as the 49th-best fantasy wide receiver in PPR leagues and 52nd in standard leagues.
