Which Quarterbacks Threw Deep Least Often in 2016?

So the Rams sucked. I think we can say that with a solid amount of certainty. Let's just hope the new regime can save Jared Goff before it's too late.

Not only did Goff have the lowest deep rate among qualified passers, but he was an outlier in how rarely he threw long. His deep rate was 11.71%, and Bradford was second lowest at 13.41%, almost two percentage points higher. Only 24 of Goff's 205 attempts went 16 yards beyond the line of scrimmage. It's impossible to truly evaluate a player when he has restrictions such as these on him from the jump.

Even with the head coaching change, not everything is bright and cheery for Goff. The team is expected to let wide receiver Kenny Britt walk in free agency. Keenum and Goff averaged 1.12 Passing NEP per attempt when targeting Britt deep, the sixth-highest mark in the league among receivers with at least 20 targets. Britt was awesome despite the limitations of his quarterbacks, and losing him would make Goff's progression much tougher.

Additionally, the Rams don't have a first-round pick this year due to the package they shipped to draft Goff. Everything about this outlook is stacked against the second-year quarterback. We shouldn't count him out just yet, but the front office has given him the worst situation for success you could possibly imagine.
