The NFL's 10 Best Deep-Ball Wide Receivers in 2016
4. Kenny Stills, Miami Dolphins
Deep Targets: 26 | Target NEP per Target: 1.20 | Success Rate: 50.00%
Whether you call him Kenny Stills, Kenny Thrills, or Kenny Trill, the takeaway is obvious: you can't stop this dude on deep passes.
Stills very quietly scored 9 touchdowns this year on just 81 targets, and it seemed like it was a fluke bound to slow eventually. Based on his deep-ball abilities, though, maybe we should have realized this was just a reflection of his talent.
Of those nine touchdowns, eight came on passes at least 16 yards downfield, meaning over 30% of his deep targets resulted in points. He consistently out-snapped teammate DeVante Parker, stifling Parker's fantasy appeal, and Stills dusted Parker on deep balls, as well.
On Deep Passes | Targets | Target NEP per Target | Success Rate |
---|---|---|---|
Kenny Stills | 26 | 1.20 | 50.00% |
DeVante Parker | 21 | 0.26 | 38.10% |
Stills is another guy who will be a free agent this offseason, and he doesn't turn 25 until April. He has been pigeonholed as solely a deep threat, but it's a role he fills well, and he deserves additional looks wherever he winds up.
