The 10 Worst Starting Running Backs From the 2016 NFL Season
Matt Forte, New York Jets
Rushing Success Rate: 36.24% (218 rushes, 79 successes)
Matt Forte was an absolute workhorse for the New York Jets for about 10 weeks. Then he fell off a cliff statistically, which makes sense given his age, career workload and the injury issues that piled up.
Forte did have two 100-yard games, but it took him 30 carries in each to reach the century mark. The quarterback situation in New York didn’t help his production, either. The Jets' offense was broken for the majority of the season, and Forte did what he could when healthy.
In his final four games, Forte averaged just 7.2 carries per outing, and he didn’t play in the last two weeks of the season due to a knee injury. He was vastly outplayed by Bilal Powell down the stretch.
