Positions Drafted: RB, OT, DT, ILB, OLB, CB, S

Sometimes opportunities are too good to pass up, and free safety Malik Hooker at 15th overall was that for the Indianapolis Colts; he’ll instantly replace and upgrade ex-Colt Mike Adams. Tarell Basham will likely convert to an outside linebacker in the 3-4 defense, and his power and tenacity will aid the Indy defensive run game. Nose tackle Grover Stewart and linebacker Anthony Walker Jr. also help to plug major holes up the middle, and Quincy Wilson will be a big boundary press corner opposite Vontae Davis. This defense just got a lot better.

On the offensive side, the Colts made incremental advances and didn’t reach. Tackle Zach Banner upgrades the run blocking immediately, and he has the frame and pass protection potential to grow into a starting role. Running back Marlon Mack is a big-play complement to Frank Gore in the now, but he has three-down potential as Gore ages and retires (if that ever happens). Overall, Indianapolis made non-flashy, consistent picks to get better.
