10 Fantasy Football Bounceback Candidates for 2017
Julius Thomas, TE, Miami Dolphins
Not many tight ends would really classify as "bounceback" candidates who also have a legitimate shot to have a strong 2017 -- excluding Rob Gronkowski and Tyler Eifert.
Now, Julius Thomas did play just nine games in 2016, so his struggles weren't entirely tied to poor play. But he had that, too!
Thomas, among 32 tight ends with at least 50 targets, ranked 28th in Reception NEP per catch and per target in 2016 with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Our projections peg Thomas for 97 targets as he reunites with Adam Gase, who was Thomas' offensive coordinator in 2013 and 2014 with the Broncos. In 2013, Thomas caught 65 of 90 targets for 788 yards and 12 touchdowns in 14 games. Thomas caught 43 of 62 targets for 489 and another 12 touchdowns in 2014.
He ranked second in Reception NEP per catch in 2014 and seventh in 2013 among tight ends with at least 50 targets.
If his health holds up, Thomas -- the TE16 in drafts -- could wind up a draft-day bargain yet again.
