Best Pick: Willie Snead
There was a collective barrage of swearing in the draft chat when Matt Musico drafted Saints wide receiver Willie Snead. Many of us were targeting Snead, and for good reason.
With the departure of Brandin Cooks, there are going to be many more targets to go around for Michael Thomas and Snead. Snead has a tremendous opportunity to grow in New Orleans.
On a per-play-basis, using our Net Expected Points (NEP) metric, Snead and Thomas were rather similar in 2016.
Player | Reception NEP (rank) | RNEP/Target (rank) | Yds/Reception | Success Rate |
---|---|---|---|---|
Michael Thomas | 88.76 (18) | 0.73 (17) | 12.4 | 88.89% |
Willie Snead | 82.65 (25) | 0.79 (8) | 12.4 | 87.00% |
Snead has upside he's never had in his career, which makes him a sneaky selection in the fifth round.
