Jarvis Landry, WR, Miami Dolphins

I have very little in common with the Miami Dolphins. I can’t stand the color teal, for example. But in one important regard, the Dolphins and I are in total lockstep: Neither of us want Jarvis Landry.

Their reasons are financial, with slot receiver not being a position the notoriously splashy Dolphins want to dedicate top dollar to. Mine are with regards to a receiver who rarely scores touchdowns (14 touchdowns in his first three seasons in the NFL, a tie for 37th amongst wide receivers) playing in a run-based offense.

From Week 6 onwards in 2016, the Dolphins ran the ball 330 times, the 11th-most in the NFL, while no team attempted fewer passes than their 340 attempts. In his career, Jay Cutler has favored bigger-bodied receivers like Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery. Landry doesn't fit that body type. Landry’s 131 targets in 2016 and 27.46% market share in his team's passing offense will give him appeal in PPR leagues, but now that his rapport with Ryan Tannehill won't have an impact on his fantasy season, look elsewhere in standard leagues. —Neil Dutton
