Fantasy Football: 4 Players You Can Drop After Week 1
Darren McFadden, RB, Dallas Cowboys
ESPN Ownership: 83%
Yahoo Ownership: 66%
Handcuffing running backs is already a process that is fraught with error. But many assumed Darren McFadden was the perfect handcuff in 2017, since prior to last Friday's court-ordered injunction, he had a good chance to see a big role for six games while Ezekiel Elliott served out his suspension.
But now, even if the NFL's appeal of the temporary restraining order is re-applied by the courts, McFadden is no guarantee to produce. Why? Well, McFadden was a surprise inactive for Week 1, so if that tells us anything, he may have fallen behind Alfred Morris on the depth chart. So even if Elliott ends up serving his six-game suspension this season, it looks like McFadden will be, at best, in a timeshare with Morris.
At 83% ownership in ESPN leagues, McFadden is clogging a lot of rosters right now, with little-to-no potential for big-time numbers in the event of an Elliott suspension or injury. The prudent move is to take your losses for drafting McFadden earlier than you should have and grab another running back -- like Tarik Cohen -- off of the waiver wire.
