Cleveland Browns Receivers Without Corey Coleman
Kenny Britt signed with the Cleveland Browns for four years and $32.5 million this past offseason. That number may jump off the page at first glance, but it was certainly warranted. Britt performed admirably in his short stint with the Los Angeles Rams, particularly last season when he finished 22nd overall in Reception NEP (87.01) among receivers and collected 1,002 yards despite having Case Keenum and Jared Goff throwing him passes.
But that type of consistency seems like a distant memory since his current Reception NEP is just 0.55 off two receptions (count them: two) this season.
In fact, prior to injury, it was Corey Coleman who led the Browns in target market share (18%) and nearly every receiving category imaginable. He suffered a broken right hand in the fourth quarter of Sunday's loss to the Baltimore Ravens, though, leaving a bevy of targets available for a minimum of eight weeks. That's exactly why Rashard Higgins is now a hot commodity.
It took only one outing for Higgins to pace the Browns with a 26% target share. Even when Coleman exited Sunday, Higgins notably received a team-high four targets from DeShone Kizer over the final 13:15 of regulation. However, it's worth noting that this sudden breakout didn't just come from nowhere. The second-year receiver accounted for 43.6% of his team's total receiving yards in college -- a mark that firmly placed him in the 86th percentile of all wideouts.
Furthermore, the Indianapolis Colts have allowed 15 passes that resulted in a gain of 20-plus yards (second only to the New Orleans Saints) and rank among the bottom four in Adjusted Defensive Passing NEP (19.72). Needless to say, this might be the last time Higgins will be available on your waiver wire.
