Wayne Gallman, RB, New York Giants

Even though Paul Perkins is back at practice after injuring his ribs in Week 4, the door is open for Wayne Gallman to emerge as a fantasy option.

Perkins' performance has been absolutely egregious this season -- his -0.29 Rushing NEP per carry ranks last among the 50 backs with at least 20 carries. There have been 768 different 100-carry running back seasons since 2000, and that Rushing NEP per carry mark is on pace to be the third-worst.

His heinous 12.50% rushing Success Rate (a measure of how many of his carries generate a positive NEP) is on pace to easily be the worst in that group, with the next-worst back coming in at 25.60%.

Gallman didn't explode onto the scene in Week 4, but he turned 11 carries into a solid 42 yards while adding 2 receptions for 8 yards and a touchdown on 2 targets.

The 0-4 New York Giants have little incentive to keep giving Perkins the ball, and now that Gallman has had a chance to get some playing time, his decent performance is enough that he should quickly eat into Perkins' workload, especially while he's banged up.

This is also a plus matchup for Gallman, taking on a Los Angeles Chargers defense that ranks 25th in Adjusted Defensive Rushing NEP per carry.
