Terrence West, RB, Baltimore Ravens

Coming into the 2017 season, the Baltimore Ravens' backfield workload was seemingly easy to predict. Terrance West would be the two-down hammer, and Danny Woodhead would take the passing-game work.

Once again, assumptions in muddled backfields tend to be proven wrong more often than not as West, even prior to suffering a calf injury in Week 5, had had his role supplanted by new Ravens' teammate Alex Collins.

Collins hasn't been remarkably efficient on the whole, but when digging a bit deeper into the numbers, it's clear he's far outperformed West. And the Ravens' brass has taken notice. Collins' -0.10 Rushing NEP per attempt isn't very good, but it's far better than West's -0.21 Rushing NEP per rush.

Moreover, Collins' efficiency is heavily influenced by two early season fumbles. When removing Collins' two fumbles, and West's one fumble on the season, Collins' 0.18 Rushing NEP per rush even further outpaces West's 0.02 Rushing NEP per rush.

And Collins has been more consistent on the ground, too, producing a 45.95% Rushing Success Rate -- the percentage of rushes contributing positively to NEP -- compared to West's 35.90% Rushing Success Rate.

While we're currently unsure how much time West will miss with his injury, he's been out-touched by Collins in each of the last three games. So no matter when he returns, West looks to be on the outside looking in for meaningful work. Drop West for Aaron Jones or Collins if they're still on your waiver wire.
