It's Not Too Late to Join Hunter Henry's Bandwagon

Through the season's first three weeks, Hunter Henry was in on 50.68% of the Los Angeles Chargers' offensive snaps while Antonio Gates played in 58.68%. Week 4 saw a more reasonable timeshare, as Henry recorded a 61.4% snap share -- eclipsing 60% for the first time all season -- to Gates' 63.16%. Needless to say, it was only a matter of time before the 37-year-old gave way to his likely successor.

Henry inevitably recorded season highs in snap percentage (75.64%), receiving targets (8), and red zone targets (3) Sunday against the New York Giants. The good news is that his upcoming matchup against the Oakland Raiders makes for what should be a prosperous outing whether he receives similar usage or not.

Only the Indianapolis Colts (61.10) and Cleveland Browns (57.54) have accrued a worse Adjusted Defensive Passing NEP than Oakland (54.45) this season. Tight ends in particular -- specifically Delanie Walker, Vernon Davis, and A.J. Derby -- combined to average 5.3 receptions and 69.6 yards against the Raiders so far.

Seeing as how the Chargers are passing at the fourth-highest rate in the red zone (68%), Henry has a real chance to score for the second consecutive week.
