Fantasy Football: 4 Players You Can Drop After Week 6
Allen Hurns, WR, Jacksonville Jaguars
Yahoo Ownership: 43%
Being the number-two wide receiver on most teams usually warrants fantasy football ownership. There are a few teams, however, where it just doesn't make any sense due to the lack of volume the offense produces. Owning the number-two receiver of the Jacksonville Jaguars is one such instance.
As such, it's time to remove Allen Hurns from your roster. It's not even that Hurns has been that bad, nor that he lacks an appropriate market share. His 0.83 Reception NEP per target has been efficient, and his 7 targets in the red zone are 5 more than the Jags' leading receiver, Marqise Lee.
As always, the problem remains overall volume, as Hurns hasn't received more than four targets since Week 2.
With an inaccurate passer at the helm in Blake Bortles, the Jaguars' brass have made a concerted effort to hide his deficiencies by handing the rock to rookie running back Leonard Fournette over, and over, and over again. That means Hurns isn't going to get many looks in most games.
With no real path to a decent target share, starting Hurns is essentially a touchdown-or-bust proposition. Drop him for Taylor Gabriel, who should get a lot of looks for as long as Mohamed Sanu remains out.
