Running Back: DeMarco Murray, Tennessee Titans
DeMarco Murray, RB, Tennessee Titans
12 Rushes, 40 Yards, 1 Touchdown
4 Receptions, 47 Yards, 4 Targets
Performance Score: 87
You know it's a poor week for running back success when our top performer is a hobbled back who notched just 16 touches and scored less fantasy points than his backup. But such was the case for Tennessee Titans runner DeMarco Murray, who clearly labored through a hamstring issue on Monday Night Football.
Still, in terms of efficiency and effectiveness, no one was better than Murray, who posted the top Performance Score at the running back position with an 87, totaling 87 yards and a touchdown on the night. It was a gritty performance that saw him leave the field several times to get medical treatment, but he was able to grind out difficult yards and soften up the defense so backup Derrick Henry could finish them off late.
Catching all four of his targets for 47 yards really helped an also injured Marcus Mariota, who was able to rely on the checkdowns to Murray due to his inability to scramble for fear of reinjuring his hamstring. It will be important to monitor the injury report on Murray, especially with a bye coming in Week 8, but he was as reliable as they come on Monday.
