Carson Wentz, QB, Philadelphia Eagles

Week 6 Fantasy Points: 21.4

Carson Wentz makes his second appearance in this weekly space after finishing as the third-best fantasy quarterback in Week 6. Wentz also made our 20 Best Offensive Players of Week 5 list.

He has already produced more Net Expected Points (NEP, a proprietary metric that measures the number of points a player adds to his team's drive per play, versus what he's expected to add) than he did in all of his rookie campaign. In fact, only three quarterbacks have produced more NEP thus far in 2017 than Wentz: Tom Brady, Alex Smith, and Drew Brees. Wentz is also on track to smash his rookie year touchdown and yardage marks.

So what gives? Why isn't Wentz getting more love from fantasy owners? Perhaps it's because he isn't a "known commodity." Perhaps his rookie season left some with the impression that he isn't very good. More likely is the simple fact that quarterback is a deep position in fantasy, with lots of good options. Still, it's surprising that he isn't being started in more fantasy leagues considering he's leading our fifth-ranked passing offense.

If you're set at quarterback with one of the aforementioned brand-name studs, fine. But if you need to shake things up, consider Wentz. He's shown he's capable of big games. Use our start/sit tool each week to check his matchup and see if it's a good spot to give him a go.
