7 Deep Fantasy Football Sleepers for Week 10
Ryan Fitzpatrick, QB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Yahoo! Ownership: 11%
With Jameis Winston sidelined for the next couple of weeks for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Ryan Fitzpatrick will become the starting quarterback for his seventh NFL team. The 13-year veteran has had flashes of near-brilliance (31 touchdowns for the New York Jets in 2015) but has been a decidedly mediocre quarterback his whole career, with a 59.8% completion percentage and a 79.9 quarterback rating. But given the right matchup, he can produce Fitzmagic.
In his final start of 2016, Fitzpatrick threw for 210 yards and 2 touchdowns. Just four weeks ago he came in off the bench to fire 3 touchdowns and 290 yards against the Arizona Cardinals. This Sunday, not only does he face a soft pass defense, but he has the bonus of playing in a revenge game against one of his former clubs, the Jets.
New York has allowed quarterbacks to throw for a league-high 19 touchdowns against them and rank in the bottom-10 in fantasy points allowed to signal callers. In seven of their nine games this season, opposing quarterbacks have thrown for at least 2 touchdowns, including the last five in a row. Helping Fitz's cause will likely be a pass-heavy game script, as the Bucs are 2.5-point home dogs.
