The Colts' Have a 0.16 Adjusted Defensive NEP Per Play

Sure the Indianapolis Colts lost their star quarterback Andrew Luck prior to the season, but that doesn't provide an excuse for their defense being the least efficient unit in the NFL. The offense underperforming has not made things easy on the defense, as their average of 64.4 defensive plays per game is the 11th-most of any team this season.

But that means there are still 10 defenses in the league who have averaged more plays than the Colts. So that certainly does not provide the Indianapolis defense with an excuse for giving up the fourth-most yards (385.8) or second-most points per game (28.0) of any team.

They actually rank 15th in Adjusted Defensive Rushing NEP per play (0.01), but their 31st-ranked Adjusted Passing Defensive NEP per play (0.29) drags them all the way down to the bottom of the league in overall defensive efficiency.

With the Colts giving up the ninth-most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks, fantasy owners should look past the bye week to their Week 12 matchup with the Titans, during which Marcus Mariota will be a great option at quarterback.
