Ben Roethlisberger, QB, Pittsburgh Steelers
NFL.com Start Percentage: 29.1%
Week 11 Fantasy Points: 28.96
Ben Roethlisberger turned in the week's best fantasy performance by a quarterback, per NFL.com scoring. His 299 passing yards were nice, but it was the four passing touchdowns he threw that made his day exceptional.
Thus far in 2017, there have only been 19 games where a quarterback threw at least four scores, so Roethlisberger joined a rather select group. The veteran's advanced metrics had been somewhat better than his actual box score stats, so he was a candidate for regression. According to numberFire's Net Expected Points (NEP) metric, Roethlisberger is a top-10 quarterback this year and a top-12 signal caller on a per-play basis among quarterbacks with more than 50 pass attempts.
Despite those favorable advanced metrics, his actual fantasy performances haven't been great. Through the first nine weeks of this season, he had only one top-10 performance. This showing in Week 11 makes it two in a row now, but it's also important to note that those games were against poor defenses.
We project Roethlisberger to be a fringe QB1 for the rest of the season. He should be on your streaming radar in favorable matchups.
