Tight End: Rob Gronkowski, New England Patriots
Rob Gronkowski, TE, New England Patriots
9 Receptions, 147 Yards, 11 Targets
Performance Score: 97
For the second week in a row, your top tight end is the New England Patriots' Rob Gronkowski. I assume no one is surprised.
With the Buffalo Bills making a concerted effort to keep Brandin Cooks contained, the Patriots relentlessly attacked the middle of the field with Gronkowski, targeting the big tight end 11 times. He was dominant with those targets, notching 147 yards on 9 catches and keeping the offense moving despite an underwhelming game from Tom Brady.
The performance was tied with Ed Dickson for the best of the year at tight end with a score of 97, and that was good for a Reception NEP of 13.38. When Brady and the offense needed to make a play, they went to Gronk, who simply outmuscled any safety or linebacker that attempted to cover him.
Now just 151 yards shy of 1,000 for the season -- not to mention his 7 touchdowns -- Gronkowski is reminding us of what he can do when healthy for an entire campaign.
