5 NFL Stats to Know Through Week 14
Marcus Mariota's 0.02 Passing NEP per Drop Back Ranks 26th
It's no secret that Marcus Mariota has struggled recently. He has been held under 200 passing yards in each of the past three games, averaging just 164.3 passing yards over that span.
On the season as a whole, his average of 215.2 passing yards per game ranks 24th, and his 10 touchdowns rank 28th among quarterbacks. That is in part due to his averaging the 31st-most (30.0) attempts per game, but then that certainly doesn't provide an excuse for his 14 interceptions, which are second in the league behind only DeShone Kizer.
He took a step up in efficiency following his rookie season, jumping from 0.07 Passing NEP per drop back in 2015 to 0.17 last season, but this year, he has taken a big step backward.
On the bright side for Mariota, he draws a soft matchup in Week 15 with the San Francisco 49ers, who are allowing the fourth-most fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks. If he can't right the ship against that defense, Tennessee Titans can't feel comfortable with their quarterback situation entering the playoffs (with a 77.3% chance to appear in the postseason).
