Marquise Goodwin is San Francisco's Number-One Receiver
There's no denying the San Francisco 49ers offense as a whole will have its hands full against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. Having said that, Marquise Goodwin's volume rivals that of any number-one receiver's in the league with Jimmy Garoppolo under center.
With Garoppolo starting the past three games, Goodwin has seen a team-high 33 targets and averaged a 29.2% target share. His average box score in that span has been 11.0 targets for 8.0 catches and 106.7 receiving yards. He and Robby Anderson remain the only receivers in that time frame with at least 30 targets and zero touchdowns.
The matchup is tough: the Jaguars rank first overall in passing defense by a wide margin according to our metrics, allowing an average 169.0 yards per game and 5.9 yards per attempt to opposing quarterbacks. If looking to start or roster a receiver who's at least guaranteed volume, though, Goodwin's spits with Garoppolo under center are worth chasing.
